The category feature on Houstr allows you to take all the items in your Guest Store and assign each of them to the appropriate category giving your visitors an easy to navigate menu that will make their shopping experience more enjoyable.
From the categories tab, you can create new categories and edit the order in which they will appear in your Guest Stores. The lower the order number the earlier they will appear in your Guest Store menu. Upon logging in, you’ll notice we added 23 pre loaded categories. Feel free to change change their names and orders as you see fit. The most important thing is to be creative, test out new items, ask your friendly guests for feedback to make continuous improvements.
It’s generally a good idea to categorize your store items by the order that they will be relevant to your visitors. For example, after booking your property, the first thing your guest may look to do is book a car rental. Including a “services” category that includes things such as car rentals, food delivery, flowery deliver, and early check-in may be a good idea.
You can also start by adding an “Experiences” or “Things To Do” category that guests may want to purchase during their visit to your property. For example, creating a category titled “Experience Chicago” would be a good place to include tickets to local events such as concerts, sports games, comedy shows, or tours.
Utilizing the “Popular” or “Guest Favorites” category is another great way to highlight items that you think guests will love. This can include popular services and experiences as well as unique items in your property that draw a lot of attention. Items like mattresses, wallpaper, or even goods from local artists would be a good idea to include in one of these categories. You can always assign one item to multiple categories making it more visible and more likely to convert.
Finally, use categories to break up products up by room. This makes it easy for your guests to find a product they discovered and are looking to make a quick purchase on. Utilize categories like “Bedroom, Living Room, Kitchen, Bed & Bath, etc” to make your Houstr store easy to navigate and improve your odds for a sale.
